Volunteer Opportunities

St. Monica Catholic School Signup Sheets for Volunteer Opportunities

We rely on our valuable volunteers’ energy, creativity, and input, AKA amazing parents!

Below are many of the service opportunities currently available.

We encourage parents to volunteer and become involved. However, to ensure a secure school for our students, we require that parents complete “Safe Environment” training before serving in a volunteer capacity. The Archdiocese of Seattle mandates this training. Please visit https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/ to complete the background check and signup for a class.

Service Commitment- All our families commit during registration to a minimum of thirty (30) service hours between July 1st and June 30th to the school. Service hours may be earned in school or parish activities.

  • Volunteer Hours are recorded in the Facts Family Portal, and opportunities are continuously added throughout the school year as we plan our Parent Club events.

Grand's Day Event Help

Event Chair: Britta Banchero

DETAILS:

We are looking for volunteers to help with our St. Monica Grand’s Day Event. It is a wonderful event where we invite our Grandparents and Special Friends to our school to join us for mass, tea, and treats and to tour our school with the children.

  • Night Before Set-up: Thursday, February 2 (approx. 3-6 pm) in the Gym and Family Center- We need help setting up for the event- putting out all the tables and chairs, platting baked goods for the next day, putting together centerpieces for the tables, setting the tables, getting the food and drink tables ready, setting up the photo station.
  • Day of the Event and Clean Up: Friday, February 3 (8 am-1 pm) in the Gym and Family Center- We need greeters before mass, help to make coffee and tea before the event and during mass, getting the last few things set on the tables. We will also need help during the event when people start moving into the gym after mass to direct them where to sit and get settled, refill water pitchers, and walk around pouring coffee and tea for our guests. Finally, when the children start to leave the gym with their Grand’s, we need help cleaning everything up, breaking things down, washing dishes, packing things back up, packing up any extra food, etc.
  • Baked Goods and Fruit Donations: (before or by Thursday, February 1 at 3 pm) If you can donate any baked goods, fruit, or other small finger foods, you can drop the item or items off in the school office by or before 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 1 (even if you drop them off earlier that week of the event).
