We had several questions regarding our sick policy, so we wanted to remind all of us of the importance of staying healthy to continue to remain in school. To keep everyone safe, if you show signs of COVID, you will need to quarantine unless you have a negative COVID test or know of an existing ailment or allergy that would show itself similarly. And even though these are big asks of working families, these will allow us to stay healthy and open. This is not to increase fear or frustration, only safety.
Please let us know if your child will be tardy or absent for the school day using this link:
This will help the teachers with assignments and grading. Also, if your child is staying home because of a sick family member, please let us know using this form.
When should sick students or staff isolate/quarantine, and for how long?
Sick students or staff who have not been in close contact with anyone with confirmed COVID-19 should be encouraged to follow up with a medical provider if possible, especially if symptoms get worse.
If they have NOT been tested for COVID-19, remain home for at least 10 days after symptoms began, AND at least 24 hours after the fever has resolved AND symptoms have improved.
If they tested NEGATIVE for COVID-19, remain home for at least 24 hours after the fever has resolved and symptoms have improved.
Sick students or staff who have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 should be encouraged to get tested and remain home for:
• at least 14 days from the date of last exposure
• AND at least 10 days after symptoms began
• AND at least 24 hours after the fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medications
• AND symptoms have improved.
Sick staff members or parents/guardians of sick students should notify the school immediately if someone in their home tests positive for COVID-19.
Please remember that our goals are to:
- Keep our Teachers safe!
- Keep our Students (and their families) safe!
- Keep our school open!
By working together as a community, all of this can happen. To remain open with an in-person instructional model, we all have to do our parts to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19. Please be observant of local ordinances, including wearing a mask/face coverings and maintaining physical distance when in public. We need all our families to communize (empathy, agreement, harmony) regarding being mindful and safe while away from campus. We are doing everything in our power while on campus to follow health and safety regulations, but we need to remain safe while away from school.
