1st Communion Banners
“The Eucharist is Jesus who gives himself entirely to us. To nourish ourselves with him and abide in him through Holy Communion, if we do it with faith, transforms our life into a gift to God and to our brothers. […] To let ourselves be nourished by the Bread of Life means to be in tune with the heart of Christ, to assimilate his choices, thoughts, behaviors.” Pope Francis
First Communion

Our second graders celebrated their first time receiving the Body and Blood of Christ last Saturday. This is a hugely important time in their lives as they now experience a new level of relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was a beautiful and joyous event, and we congratulate them!

Refer a Friend – Earn Free Tuition

Earn one month/one student tuition credit for the successful referral of a new student for the 2017-18 school year! The new student must enroll and attend our school for the entire 2017-18 school year. Tuition credit will be applied to your last month’s tuition bill or first month of the following year if tuition is paid in full. Spread the word about our school!

St. Monica Gardens Project

As spring marches on, terrariums and outdoor gardens are starting to pop up in and around our school. This is the product of months of PBL (Project Based Learning) planning. The students and teachers have been engaging in those important 21st Century Skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and a bit of engineering as well. We are starting deliberately small this year, and plan to expand from here on.

We will be needing garden-loving volunteers to help maintain the fruits of our labor this summer. Could you please let your child’s teacher know if you can assist with watering, weeding and harvesting our vegetable garden? The produce will benefit the parish’s Friends of the Needy group, and so by helping maintain our gardens, you will also assist in feeding the hungry. This is engagement of Catholic mission at its best. Thank you!

Spring Concert

Our students and Mrs. Foster have been hard at work preparing for this event. Doors will open at 6:10 pm, and the concert starts at 6:30 pm in the school gym.

Visit from the Incoming Principal

I’ve invited Mrs. Marybeth Bohm to spend a day with us on Thursday, May 25, so that she can experience the daily school routines and meet the St. Monica students, teachers, staff and parents. She looks forward to the day, and she will be available to introduce herself to parents at 8:45 am in the school library. I invite you to attend.

Thank you!

I wish to thank all parents and students for making Teacher Appreciation Week so very special for all of us, and especially Shelley Helms, Leslie Lawrence and Andrea Chatalas. On behalf of our teachers and staff, I thank you for the flowers, coffee, gifts, exquisite lunch, scrumptious treats, and most of all, for your love and support.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

Anca Wilson, Principal
