Prayer for Holy Week

O God, help me to live Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday as powerful moments that allow me to enter ever further into the great mystery of our faith – the Resurection of our Lord Jesus Christ. May this be a positive time to rediscover my need for your tenderness and closeness, and to return to you with all my heart.

Peter Feldsine Memorial Scholarship

Every year, we remember in a special way one of our St. Monica graduates, Peter Feldsine, through the Peter Feldsine Scholarship. This is a beautiful tradition that started with the generous initiative of the Feldsine family.

Peter John Feldsine joined St. Monica School in 2001 as a 6th grade student. He graduated with the class of 2004 and went on to Eastside Catholic High School where he graduated in 2008. He subsequently was matriculated at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. He died on February 28 of a sudden heart attack on campus. He was exactly 19 years and 6 months old to the hour. Peter was somewhat quiet and well liked. He possessed a keen sense of social consciousness. He was genuinely interested in other’s well-being and demonstrated a casual warmth and approachability to everyone, even strangers. If he had grown to adulthood, he would have endeavored to provide assistance to those less fortunate than him in ways that will never be known.

This scholarship has been established as a lasting memory to Peter and his values. It is intended to help students achieve the quality of education that was afforded to Peter at St. Monica. This year, two seventh grade students received this scholarship, and we are very proud of them. They are Grace Maher and Thomas Lockhart. We are grateful to the Feldsine family for continuing to support our school and for helping us keep Peter’s memory alive.

Holy Thursday

Hunger Awareness Lunch will take place on Holy Thursday. Our students will eat a simple lunch of soup and bread together, in their school families. We are asking every student to bring a donation in exchange for the cost of lunch. All donations will go directly to our Friends of the Needy Program here at St. Monica. This is a meaningful way for our students to become aware of the hungry in our community.

After School Care will operate its normal schedule on Holy Thursday.
