Raffle tickets due Friday, October 26th
Our 2017 Fall Raffle is in the final stretchand we are hoping to finish strong! With such great prices, it should be easy — at $2 a ticket or $20 for a book of 10, they really do sell themselves! You can return your raffle stubs and money to the school office. Remember, more tickets can be requested by contacting Pam Hayden (email@example.com) or picked up in the school office, but we need them back on Friday! Need more time? Reach out to Pam to make arrangements. And remember, unsold tickets also need to be returned to the school for accounting purposes.

· Drawing to be held Sunday, October 29th 5:30pm at Trunk or Treat.

All Hallows Eve Challenge – AKA Halloween
Students are invited to come to school dressed as a Saint. The goal is to be creative; making their costume out of supplies you have around the house. Research the saint and create a costume that symbolizes their life, or their cause of death (get the Halloween spooky effect), or what are they the patron saint of (do NOT buy an astronaut costume and say you are the patron saint of asteronauts). The goal is to be creative and artistic without spending a ton of money purchasing a costume that might not ever be worn again. We will end the day, schedule E, with a parade of the saints and a chosen few will explain their saint of choice and how their costume reflects their saint. Then we will all exit the gym with a Halloween goodie (with or without a costume). Those that choose to not wear a costume must come to school in uniform. No NUT coupons may be used.
Please remind your children to NOT share lunch or snacks with one another – even if they think they know what is inside. As we have students with varying food allergies we want to make sure everyone is safe while enjoying their snacks and lunch. With students’ varied allergies, we are not able to be an allergen free zone, students need to eat what has been packed for them or what is provided from our hot lunch provider, Little Toby. If your child has allergies or restrictions, please remind them to not take any food from classmates or people at lunch.
Starting in November, we will have a peanut free table, as that is generally the most severe of the allergens, for those that would prefer to eat away from the possibility of nuts / granola bars / PB&J sandwiches. Once again, remind your child(ren) of the importance of not sharing food, eating with proper table manners (so food mess and possible contamination will not occur – eating with one’s mouth open or talking with your mouth full increases the risk of food possibly being shared or passed unintentionally).

Second Annual Trunk or Treat
What is Trunk or Treat?
Trunk or Treat is a fun, safe way to celebrate Halloween. Participants of the event decorate their cars/trunks in the upper parking lot and children walk from trunk to trunk to look at the decorations and receive candy and treats. This event provides a controlled and safe family environment for trick-or-treaters of all ages.
How to participate:
Parents/Guardians: Decorate your car/trunk and give out candy or other treats (pencils, stickers, small trinkets, etc.) Please no nuts or nut products.
Children: Come dressed in costume, bring a bag to collect your goodies and have a great time walking from car to car “trunk or treating!”. Please leave weapon accessories at home.
Things to know:
Sunday, October 29th 5:00-6:00 pm at St. Monica’s upper parking lot * All are welcome to participate in this free event.
November is Shop for a Cause Month!
We have two local businesses offering 20% of all sales donated back to St. Monica School. Great times to start your holiday shopping early and bring in money for our school.

November 28- Island Books, an independent bookstore proudly serving Mercer Island for over 40 years. Drinks and Treats provided while you shop, 10am-4pm, 3014 78th Ave SE.
