Music Spotlight

The music program is off to a great start in the 2020-2021 school year with new ukuleles and tubano drums! Students from Pre-K to 8th grade experience singing and movement activities that strengthen pitch, rhythm, and music theory knowledge in music class. In December, all students were introduced to both sacred and secular Christmas music as they learned to identify the difference between the two. Although light singing has been incorporated, playing instruments, studying music theory, and listening has been the main focuses for the year, especially with the ever-changing health guidelines. Other instruments that have been used this year include rhythm sticks, xylophones, and various percussion instruments.

For the remainder of the school year, students will explore music from different cultures, time periods, and genres. A wonderful world of music awaits!
