I can’t believe we are half way through our second week of school already.  The first week was amazing – not a single tardy student .  The new schedule seems to be working well and the kiddos are adjusting to being back in school: sitting in desks, walking in lines, raising their hands – you know, the good ol’ stuff.  The teachers and I agree, it is difficult to be in class when the weather is so beautiful.  Make sure to spend some time after school enjoying the weather and being outside – DAILY HOMEWORK!!!  Your children are a blessing to our school and they bring such a joy and energy.  Thank you for partnering with us and gifting us with the opportunity to work with all of you.  Blessings upon our new year. I look forward to seeing all our parents at the Curriculum Nights next week.

Marybeth Bohm, Principal

My husband, Eli, and I have been happily married for almost 25 years (this December it will be 25 exactly) and have been blessed with the gift and responsibility of nurturing and loving our three amazing daughters: Kaitlynne (22), Margaret (18), and Haylee (15).  Kaitlynne is  working on her PhD in microbiology at Washington State, Margaret just moved to Gonzaga and started her freshman year, and Haylee is a sophomore at Liberty high school in Renton.

I am a product of Catholic schools, elementary through graduate.  I attended St. Irenaeus Parish school in Cypress and St. Joseph High School in Lakewood, CA then I earned my bachelors and masters degrees from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.  We moved to Southern Washington right after getting married and I started teaching in the public school system in Longview and Yelm but knew that I needed to go “home” to Catholic school.  I wanted and needed to be able to teach the whole child; to be able to share my faith simultaneously with the core curriculum.  I am very much looking forward to my second year as principal of St. Monica Catholic School and building on all the amazing things we have here.

Favorite color: Blue
Favorite season: Summer
Favorite dessert: Mint chocolate chip ice cream
Pets: Two dogs and two guinea pigs
Favorite things to do: I love to read, listen to and watch all things True Crime. Forensics is really intriguing to me yet I can’t pull a tooth (too much blood and yuck) – Eli had all tooth duties as our girls grew up.
If I wasn’t a teacher I would be: If I wasn’t a teacher I would have been a pretty good detective. Although I have ALWAYS wanted to be a teacher and I LOVE what I do.  I pray all children find what they love to do and make that their career – it is never difficult going to work when you love what you do!
